Patient Safety

August 7, 2015

At Medcoso patient safety has always been a top priority.  We pride ourselves on delivering the safest anesthetic to our most valued patients. The prevention and treatment of Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) at Medcoso is another example of how we promote a culture of safety.  MH is a potentially fatal disorder that is associated with the administration of certain types of general anesthesia and the drug succinylcholine. The signs and symptoms of MH include muscle rigidity, increased ETCO2, rapid heart rate, and increased body temperature. Identifying patients at risk and altering the anesthesia plan can potentially prevent a MH crisis. The best defense of a MH event is proper preparation. Our anesthesia providers have been expertly trained in both prevention and treatment of MH. To learn more about MH go
